World Kindness Week

November 10–16, 2025

World Kindness Day was first celebrated on November 13, 1997, when several humanitarian groups came together and made a Declaration of Kindness. World Kindness Day is celebrated all over the world every year on November 13. World Kindness Day evolved into World Kindness Week, in which we are all asked to make a similar declaration. World Kindness Week encourages everyone to be kind to each other, to yourself, and to the world Kindness Champions. Kindness can be spread through small gestures like holding a door open for someone, a kind text or post to brighten someone’s day, mentoring a student in another cohort, or through larger community-wide acts like volunteering at a soup kitchen or sending care packages to those in need.

The Graduate College is once again celebrating World Kindness Week by recognizing and thanking graduate students who have gone out of their way to spread kindness and compassion. Graduate faculty and staff were asked to nominate students that have demonstrated true acts of kindness to be 2025. Out of the 29 students nominated, two winners were selected: Hannah Louise Frame and Eaman Abay

If you would like some ideas on making your own Declaration of Kindness, check out our Kindness Toolkit. Remember, even a small act of kindness can make a huge impact on someone else. Let’s work on making World Kindness Day every day!
