PFF Activities and Events

Current PFF participants should visit the PFF course in Canvas to see the schedule of upcoming coffee hours, reading groups, and PFF-approved workshops. In order for students to receive activity points for participation, an activity log must be completed and submitted via Canvas within one month of the activity date.

Coffee Hours

PFF coffee hours are casual, drop-in events, where students can chat with current UC faculty and PFF alumni about their academic career journey and current position, in a low pressure environment. These are hosted in person on UC's Uptown Campus.

Reading Groups

Reading groups, offered several times each semester, provide up-to-date information on topics in effective teaching and give participants valuable experience in leading group discussions. For each session, readings are assigned in advance, and one to two PFF students guide the discussion, which generally lasts about an hour.

Participation in a reading group is worth five activity points. Leading a reading group is worth five activity points, and it is required for Silver Tier completion and Gold Tier completion. Please register 48 hours prior to the scheduled reading group; if within the 48 hours you are still interested, please email PFF directly at gradpff@uc.edu.

Workshops

PFF-approved workshops are offered by the Graduate College, the Academy of Fellows for Teaching & Learning (AFTL), the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching & Learning | University of Cincinnati (CET&L), and other UC groups. The workshops chosen by the PFF program typically focus on pedagogy.
