Since the University
of Cincinnati is not in downtown Cincinnati and has lots of
green spaces and a park next door, it can be easy to forget you are in the
center of a metropolitan area with a population of 2 million. Additionally, the
population of the university itself is larger than many hometowns. With an
uptown campus population of almost 28,000 students, and close to 15,000
employees, and visitors, vendors, delivery and service people, on any given day
50,000 people can be coming and going. We have services in place to help keep
you safe, but take precautions yourself, just as you do when you visit any
large metro area.
Police
The University of Cincinnati police department is a full-time, 24/7 law
enforcement unit that provides campus safety services and crime prevention.
They also work cooperatively with the Cincinnati
police to help create a safe secure environment in the surrounding community. Other
services include lost and found reporting and crime statistic documentation. Police
main headquarters are at Three
Edwards Center,
51 West Corry Street,
Cincinnati, Ohio
45221-0215. Non-emergencies
phone numbers are 556-1111 or 558-1111.
For emergencies
dial 911 or cell phone 556-3911.
Nightwalk Volunteers help make the campus a safe place to be even late
at night. If you’re studying late in the library or working in the lab, you can
always call Nightwalk to escort you to your car,
housing, or bus stop. Be smart -- take the time to be safe.
