The Immunobiology (IMM) Graduate Training Program at the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati Childrens Research Foundation is designed to provide outstanding broadly based instruction in immunology, along with rigorous research training that emphasizes modern approaches to understanding the function of the immune system in health and disease. The curriculum consists of 1 year of coursework including introductory and advanced Immunology Courses followed by advancement to candidacy early in the second year. In year 1, the student conducts research lab rotations and selects a research thesis advisor. In years 2-4, students will focus entirely on their thesis research. Throughout the program students will engage in stimulating discussion of current immunologic advancements through participation in several research seminars and journal clubs. The highly accomplished faculty (both M.D. and Ph.D) of the Program, provide a wide variety of research experiences for the student to choose from ranging from basic immunological mechanisms to the study of immune dysfunction in human diseases (autoimmune, allergic, infectious disease, cancer). At the completion of this program, the student will have a solid foundation in state-of-the-art immunologic, molecular, genetic, and genomic approaches to conducting medical research and be well prepared to meet the biomedical challenges of the future.
