In 2002, the Association of Research Libraries ranked University
of Cincinnati Libraries 47th out of the top 114 university libraries in North America.
University of Cincinnati
Libraries offer access to an outstanding research library collection of 3
million volumes and a wide range of services to help students with their research
needs. University Libraries includes the Walter C. Langsam Library, the
Archives and Rare Book Department, the University of Cincinnati
Digital Press, and nine college and departmental
libraries serving constituencies in chemistry, biology, classics, music,
design, architecture, art, planning, education, engineering, geology, physics,
mathematics, and applied science.
The Medical Center Academic Information Technology & Libraries (AIT&L)
includes the Health Sciences Library, the Nursing Library, and the Cincinnati Medical Heritage
Center. Nationally
AIT&L ranks first in public computers, first in education/training, and
fifth in electronic journals among 118 academic health sciences libraries.
Additional libraries include the Marx Law Library at the College
of Law and libraries at Clermont College
in Batavia and Raymond Walters
College in Blue Ash.
Students have access to the University
of Cincinnati Libraries’ online library catalog and information about resources and services through
three main Web portals: University
Libraries, Medical Center AIT&L,
and the Marx Law Library. The
libraries’ websites serve as local gateways to OhioLINK, which includes a
statewide library catalog of over 38 million items from 83 other academic
libraries across Ohio, as well as over 4700 electronic
journals, more than 100 research databases, and the Digital Media
Center.
Each University of Cincinnati library is home to a
knowledgeable staff eager to assist students, faculty, and staff with their
research and service needs. Among the most important services provided by our
staff are instruction in library research, assistance with the appropriate use
of electronic resources, and help creating electronic dissertations and theses.
