Doctoral Hooding and Master’s Recognition Ceremony

          TIME:           1:30 P.M. (Processional begins at 1:00 P.M)

Tickets are NOT required for the Doctoral Hooding and Master’s Recognition Ceremony or for Undergraduate Commencement. Reservations for the Doctoral Hooding and Master's Recognition Ceremony will begin April 1, 2008.

Information for Graduate Students


• Reserve Your Seat for the Doctoral Hooding and Master’s Recognition Ceremony at http://www.uc.edu/commencement/login.aspx between April 1 through May 27, 2008.

• Assemble for Doctoral Hooding and Master’s Recognition Ceremony

All graduates should wear comfortable shoes with a low heel. Master’s students will be marching up stairs to the Fifth Third Arena from the Recreation Center.

If you have a physical disability that limits your mobility, you should proceed directly to the Fifth Third Arena using the northeast corner entrance to the arena which is across from Dabney Hall. Check in with a Commencement Committee volunteer in order to fill out your reader card. You will wait in this area so you can join your college when they march in.

All bags will be checked before proceeding to the gym floor. Do NOT bring personal belongings with you to the staging area. You will not return to the Recreation Center after the event.
Doctoral Students

All doctoral candidates participating in the Doctoral Hooding and Master’s Recognition Ceremony
on Friday, June 13th should enter the Richard E. Lindner Center, 4th floor (Varsity Village).

If you have specific questions, contact the Graduate School Office at (513) 556-4335.

All doctoral candidates participating in the Doctoral Hooding and Master’s Recognition Ceremony on Friday, June 13th should arrive NO LATER than 12 p.m. Check-in will begin at 11a.m., and will close at 12:30 p.m.

Master’s Students

All master’s candidates participating in the Doctoral Hooding and Master's Recognition Ceremony on Friday, June 13th should assemble on the gymnasium floor of the Campus Recreation Center (enter the Recreation Center Main Entrance).

All master’s candidates participating in the Doctoral Hooding and Master's Recognition Ceremony on Friday, June 13th should arrive NO LATER than 12:30 P.M. Check-in will close at 1 P.M.

Doctoral and Master’s Regalia
Doctoral candidates were sent specific instructions on ordering their regalia. Doctoral apparel will be available at the TUC Bookstore beginning June 2 through June 13. Doctoral candidates should go to the text book area to indicate that they are picking up their doctoral regalia.

Master’s graduate apparel will be available at the TUC Bookstore and all branch locations beginning Tuesday, April 15 through Friday, June 13.

If you cannot go to the bookstore, you can order online at UC Bookstore Website.

If you have questions, fee free to call Chris Adkins at 556-1291.

Graduating candidates not wearing the appropriate robes and regalia will not be able to participate in the ceremony.

What You Can Bring to the Ceremony

- Cameras and videos are permitted, but please remove them from their bags.

- Small purses and diaper bags are permitted, but will be checked by police or security personnel.

The following items will not be permitted in the Fifth Third Arena:
• wrapped gifts
• coolers
• backpacks, briefcases, and similar bags
• compressed gases, aerosol containers
• flammable or hazardous materials
• firearms, knives, other weapons

We appreciate your assistance in keeping our campus safe.

Information for Parents and Guests:

The Fifth Third Arena, Shoemaker Center is located near the center of West campus. Entrances will be open on the West and East Concourses. Please view the campus map highlighting Fifth Third Arena, Shoemaker Center and recommended parking locations.

Information about Free Parking

Free parking is available in University of Cincinnati garages designated on the campus map.

Accessible Parking and Seating for Guests with Special Needs.

We recommend that guests with special needs follow the subsequent directions in order to create a smooth transition from the time they arrive to campus until the time they depart at the end of the ceremony.

Drop-Off Location and Parking Instructions

o From Jefferson Avenue, motorists should enter the campus turning west at University Avenue.
o Motorists should proceed on University Ave. and turn south (left) on Commons Way.
o There is a designated drop off location at the corner of Commons Way and West Daniels St. for guests with special needs.
o Special needs guests will be escorted to special seating in Fifth Third Area.
o Motorists who are dropping off passengers with special needs are required to exit the drop-off area, return to University Avenue and park in the University Avenue Garage. o Free parking is available in University of Cincinnati garages designated on the campus map.
o Parking only for drivers with disabilities is available in limited quantities along Commons Way and West Daniels St.

Seating Instructions

Fifth Third Area, Shoemaker Center
o All guests with disabilities who require floor level seating should enter Fifth Third Arena at the northeast corner directly across from Dabney Hall. There is a sign posted at the entrance.
o Floor seating will be available for guests with disabilities plus one other person.
o Others who accompany guests seated in the accessible floor area will be seated in the bleachers directly behind this seating area.

Russell C. Myers Alumni Center
The UC Alumni Association wants to ensure that June graduation ceremonies are enjoyable and less stressful. Guests with special needs may view the ceremony at Fifth Third Arena, Shoemaker Center or may like to watch the ceremony in a less formal and more comfortable environment through a live streaming broadcast at the Russel C. Myers Alumni Center.

Please consider the different drop-off locations and seating instructions corresponding to each viewing location.

Information for Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff are invited to order academic regalia for June Commencement. If you ordered regalia for last year's June graduation ceremonies, you do NOT need to reorder for June 08. Your regalia order will be available for pick-up at the University Bookstores beginning Monday, June 7th.

If you have NOT previously ordered regalia, please direct all questions or orders for academic regallia to Ms. Chris Adkins, University Bookstores, at 556-1291 or by email at 0032gm@fheg.follett.com.

Please Note: The University of Cincinnati is charged $50 for each academic regalia order.

Assemble for Doctoral Hooding and Master’s Recognition Ceremony Procession

• The Doctoral Hooding and Master's Recognition Ceremony is scheduled for 1:30 P.M., Friday, June 13th in Fifth Third Arena. Doctoral advisors should report no later than 12:30 P.M. to the fourth floor, Richard E. Lindner Center (Varsity Village).

• All College-designated faculty marching with the master's candidates should report to the Campus Recreation Center no later than 12:30 P.M.

• All other faculty and staff who intend to march in the Doctoral Hooding Master’s Recognition Ceremony on June 13th are asked to report to Room 450 on the fourth floor of Lindner Center (Varsity Village) no later than 45 minutes before the ceremony. Light refreshments will be available.
