All students enrolled in six or more credit hours at the University of Cincinnati
are required to have health insurance. All international students on F or J
visas are required to have health insurance when registered for one or more
credit hours. The University will automatically enroll students in the plan
unless they complete and submit an insurance waiver form showing they have
coverage equal to or greater than that offered. Waiver forms are available
through the Student
Health Insurance Office or they may waive online through www.onestop.uc.edu.
The fee is assessed
each term they are registered for classes. Dependent coverage is also available
for an additional fee and must be requested directly through the Student Health
Insurance Office by the scheduled deadline.
Graduate students
who are registered for less than six credit hours are eligible providing they
meet the following criteria:
- be registered for at least one graduate credit hour the initial term they are requesting coverage
- submit an enrollment card
- submit a graduate certification form stating they have matriculated into a program and actively working towards their degree
- submit premium payment by the scheduled deadline
The university will pay for the spring quarter health insurance for all full-time
graduate students who have an assistantship and are enrolled in student health insurance.
This will appear in the form of a credit on their spring bill.
