The University of Cincinnati recognizes the importance of childcare to
students with young families and makes available to their students both the
Arlitt Child and Family Research and Education
Center and the UC Child
Care program.
The Arlitt Child and Family Research and Education Center
is the university’s College
of Education, Criminal
Justice, and Human Services’ award-winning laboratory preschool. Approximately
145 children, ages 3 to 6 years, attend the Arlitt Center. Children are funded
through both tuition and Head Start and can be enrolled in half day, extended
day, or full day programs. Over the past twenty years, Arlitt has served
families from over forty countries. Approximately twenty-five percent of the
children in the Arlitt program have been identified as having a specific
disability.
UC Child
Care, located about three blocks from campus, offers childcare for UC
faculty, students, and the community for children ages three months to eight
years. Discounts are available for students and employees and there is a
waiting list.
